There is anger among Portsmouth Students tonight after it was revealed that the Union had known about Athletic Union Naked Calender pictures being reposted on Adult websites for 3 three years and has failed to act.

Pictures of female students from at least the last three editions of the calendar have been posted on the site alongside comments about the participants.

The website’s reposting of these pictures has led to over 2000 complaints by students and others.

Despite this, after the website failed to reply to the Union’s request to take the pictures down in 2008, the union has left the issue unresolved.

UPSU Women’s Officer Becky Gardner said in an Email to Sabbatical’s ”In my eyes this amounts to negligence by the Union clearly the welfare of students has not been considered since we have continued to produce this calendar without alerting students as to the places the calendar has been known to end up.”

Becky Gardner has also started a petition calling for the banning of the calendar which can be found here.

This is not the first time the Union has been in trouble for its treatment of female students.

Lat November Sabbatical’s came under heavy fire for organising a promoting a “wear 70% less day” in response to the 70% budget cuts the University was facing.

More to come soon as I get it.
